RUSHVILLE, Ill. (WICS) — Five people are dead, including three children, after a school bus and semi-truck collidedin western Illinois.
The bus was traveling west on U.S. Route 24 at Parkview Road around 11:30 a.m., and for an unknown reason, crossed the road and hit the commercial vehicle head-on, according to Illinois State Police.
Both vehicles became engulfed in flames as a result. The bus driver, truck driver, and all three students on the bus were pronounced dead on the scene, state police confirmed.

Co-owner Stephanie Hite says their sanitizer meets the current CDC guidelines of 70% alcohol based, a potency which kills the coronavirus strain.

Hite says they have a substantial number of orders from healthcare workers and companies who employ truck drivers.

HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — East Broad Top railroad celebrated a "major" milestone on Tuesday as workers completed the installation on the first section of track for southward expansion.
The section of track has been dormant in that direction since the railroad ceased coal-hauling operations in 1956.
The East Broad Top Foundation is working on expanding the railroad's operating mainline, nine miles south from its headquarters, to the boroughs of Three Springs and Saltillo.
SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — In Somerset County, a new public archery range is officially open on State Game Lands 50.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday to celebrate the grand opening of the range, which is located on the 700 block of Berlin Plank Road, behind the Game Commission's office in Somerset.
Steve Smith, the executive director of the PA Game Commission, says this is the only public archery range in Somerset County.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WPEC) — Twelve northern Florida counties were placed under a state of emergency following Thursday night’s intense storms that swept through the region.
Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the order Friday, citing the significant damage to the state’s infrastructure caused by strong winds and possible tornadoes.
DeSantis’ office noted thousands of people in northern Florida lost power overnight and are dealing with significant damage caused by the rain, winds and falling trees.
JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — 6 News has learned that the Johnstown police captain who was accused of theft back in October is no longer with the department.
City manager Ethan Imhoff confirmed that Michael Plunkard is no longer working for the Johnstown Police Department.
Imhoff says he could not comment further due to the situation being a personnel matter.
Plunkard agreed in December to complete a 12-month Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program in response to the charges he faced.
JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — Johnstown Mayor Frank Janakovic confirmed to 6 News that Johnstown Police Captain Chad Miller has been appointed as the police department's interim chief.
Current police chief Bob Johnson announced last week that he has resigned from the position, effective August 7th, in order to move on to a new career field.
City officials say that Capt. Miller was appointed now in order for him to gain familiarity with the duties of the position.
WINDBER, Pa. (WJAC) — Hospitals in our region have started distributing Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. Friday morning, healthcare workers from Chan Soon-Shiong medical center received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Nurse and Director of Acute Care, Christine Spinos was first in line.
