Democrats call on Biden to create parole program for noncitizens to allow work

WASHINGTON (TND) — Legislators, labor organizers and advocates in Illinois are urging President Joe Biden, through a resolution, to authorize the establishment of a parole and work authorization program for noncitizen migrants residing in the state. Advocates said creating a program is urgent because it would help address the state's labor shortage that is impacting sectors such as health care, education and hospitality. Local school board approves major renovations for school, new athletic field

EBENSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — Central Cambria School District has some renovations coming to its facilities soon. The Central Cambria school board voted to begin multiple construction projects, including a new athletic field and upgrades to its existing football stadium and track. According to district officials, the project is estimated to cost almost $20 million. “When you look at the lighting project, the maintenance building construction, the upgrades of the athletic fields, new installation of athletic fields, we are looking at (a) bond issue and (a) also cash payment for the project price,” said school board President Dennis Simmers.

Former PSU football coach Joe Paterno recognized as part of team's new 'Wall of Honor'

University Park, PA (WJAC) — Recognition of former Penn State head coach Joe Paterno has returned at Beaver Stadium. A Paterno plaque is now part of a display on the stadium's “Wall of Honor,” which highlights the history of the head football coaches for the Nittany Lions. In July of 2012, in the wake of the Sandusky scandal and Paterno being fired by Penn State, his statue, a popular fixture at the stadium, was taken down.
