28 arrest warrants issued in Huntingdon County drug sweep

HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Members of Huntingdon County law enforcement agencies made a round of drug arrests Tuesday, according to a release from the District Attorney’s office. The release said 28 arrest warrants were issued, and 16 of those individuals are currently in custody. They said the arrests came after investigations by the Huntingdon County Drug Task Force involving local street- and mid-level dealers from the York area. Pennsylvania State Police, the Department of Corrections and agents from the Office of the Attorney General were all involved in the sweep.

Additional carbon monoxide detectors to be installed at North Star HS, officials say

AFTERNOON UPDATE |SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — North Star School District officials are providing another update on the ongoing carbon monoxide testing at the high school following Thursday's incident that left dozens of students feeling ill. Officials say the EPA has conducted additional testing overnight and throughout the day Friday. To date, all air quality readings have been negative for any chemical or environmental conditions of concern inside the building.Investigators say that despite the negative readings, the school is planning to install additional carbon monoxide detectors within the building before students return to class on Monday.

Crayola announces name of new blue hue

EASTON, Pa. -- Hello, Bluetiful. Crayola announced the name of its new blue crayon Thursday. Bluetiful was the top pick of fans during two months of online voting, beating out Dreams Come Blue, Blue Moon Bliss, Reach for the Stars and Star Spangled Blue. The Easton, Pennsylvania-based crayon maker received nearly 90,000 name submissions before narrowing it down to five. Bluetiful will make its debut later this year. It's replacing the recently retired dandelion.

Road Trippin' PA: Old Bedford Village

Bedford County, PA (WJAC) — This week's installment of Road Trippin' takes us to Old Bedford Village. It's our area's largest living history museum. Several people dedicate their lives to living in the village, assuming the roles of those living in the 17 and 1800's, with the purpose of educating visitors. We spoke to one of them, the blacksmith, as he highlights the privileges for him to live and work on the same site acting as a historian and also a teacher.

Runaway Michigan girl found in North Carolina; man charged with kidnapping and rape

NEW BERN, N.C. (WCTI) — A runaway case from Michigan was resolved in North Carolina on Tuesday and ended with the arrest of a 34-year-old man. A young girl was reported missing from Michigan and the New Bern Police Department said they received a tip that the girl was in New Bern. Officers added that they responded to 412 Stoney Hill Trail Unit B and were able to locate the girl.

Steelers to release veteran CB Ahkello Witherspoon

Pittsburgh (WJAC) — According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, the Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly informed veteran cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon that he will soon be released. Witherspoon, who was traded to Pittsburgh prior to the 2021 season, has played in 13 total games in two seasons with the Steelers. He started seven of those games. Witherspoon has 8 career interceptions, half of which came during his time with Pittsburgh. He was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 2017.

'All we want is change:' Incoming DuBois council members speak out following latest charges against

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — DuBois city council met Monday night for the first time since new charges were filed against suspended city manager Herm Suplizio last week. 6 News attended the meeting and spoke with some of the candidates running for council about their plans to right what they say are the wrongs of those that came before them. Monday night’s council meeting featured some back and forth between the public and city solicitor Toni Cherry.

Closing arguments set as Chad Daybell's murder trial nears jury decision

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) — The capital murder trial of Chad Daybell is moving towards the final phase before the case is handed over to the jury. Chad Daybell is charged with murdering his wife, Tammy Daybell, and his then-mistress Lori Vallow's children, JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan. Chad and Lori were married on a beach in Hawaii just a few weeks after Tammy died. Closing arguments are scheduled to begin Wednesday morning.

Fire rages through Williamsport recycling plant for nearly 24 hours

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (WJAC) — A fire that broke out at a Lycoming County recycling facility has been burning since Monday afternoon, according to authorities. According to NBC affiliate WBRE, the fire began at the Penn Recycling plant in Williamsport sometime around 2:30 p.m. Fire crews were reported to still be fighting the flames into Tuesday afternoon. The flames broke out in a debris pile of old car parts. According to WBRE, the pile is four stories high and about the size of a football field.
