Cameron County COVID cases remain low as virus surges across PA

CAMERON COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Cameron County remains one of only five counties under the low cases category with a just 2.1 percent positivity rate for COVID-19. Even so, Cameron County School District Superintendent Dr. Keith Wolfe says the district is not becoming complacent with preventing the spread of the virus. Since the virus situation started, the school district has only had a small amount of "close contact" quarantines and no positive virus cases.

Local girl hockey players to compete for national title

Four girl hockey players from Cambria and Somerset Counties are competing next week with hopes of a national title. Three of the girls are in the 19U division. They are making the trip to Irvine, California to represent the Armstrong Arrows in the Girls Hockey National Tournament. Longtime Penguins equipment manager, Johnstown native Dana Heinze retiring from hockey

Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Johnstown native, and longtime equipment manager for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Dana Heinze is retiring from the sport of hockey, according to a report from the team. Heinze, who is a graduate of Westmont Hilltop School District, has spent the past 33 years in and around professional hockey. During that time, Heinze has been a part of four Stanley Cup Championship teams, including three with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Teenage girl killed in Florida hit-and-run boat crash on Mother's Day, authorities say

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. (TND) — Authorities in Florida said they are searching for the driver of a boat who hit and killed a teenage girl while she was waterskiing on Mother's Day weekend. WSVN identified the girl as 15-year-old Ella Adler. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) said the teen was waterskiing near Nixon Beach in Key Biscayne when she was hit by a boat Saturday around 4:30 p.
